Meet joan

Dorset Documentary Wedding Photographer

I’m Joan, and I am a Dorset Documentary Wedding Photographer.

Based in Dorset and London, I believe the best way to capture the fun, magic and candid emotions is using a documentary photography style.

As a Dorset Documentary Wedding Photographer, I always pride myself in capturing fleeting moments.

Documenting Weddings and capturing all these so important in-between moments is what truly excited me!

Those ever so special and unique moments would otherwise be forgotten using a more traditional approach.

I absolutely love being a Documentary Wedding Photographer.

My interest for photography has been going on for as long as I can remember, always loved people watching, even at the age of 6/7 I found it all fascinating.

How could I ever get bored of the joy it brings me, capturing the magic in all those important moments.

The beauty about being a Documentary Wedding Photographer is that whether big or small is what drives, motivates me.

Photography is the story in pictures that we often fail to put into words.

I don’t shoot what it looks like but what it feels like…

I feel so lucky to live where I live, such a wonderful beautiful exciting part of the country.

Being a Dorset Documentary Wedding Photographer is something else, the scenery to start with!

London has been my base for many years and I have had the immense honour to photograph in some of the most prestigious venues there.

Personally, I love a city wedding but a total sucker for breathtaking on location weddings in Dorset and Cornwall.

From photographing weddings at The Natural history museum, St Paul’s Cathedral, Claridges, to The Savoy and so many more…

Its been a truly incredible journey.

I am by nature a very observant person, I’d perhaps describe me as “an extrovert who thinks and observes a lot!” .

The most important part of my job as a Dorset Wedding Photographer is to observe and always being on the lookout for the loudest laugh in the room as well as the most intimate and emotional moments of your day.

Being French and having moved to various other locations in my home country for 18 years, I can truly appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of Dorset.

Many of my family holidays were spent in the beautiful towns of Biarritz, Nice, Cannes where I spent a lot of time with my late Grandfather who was a keen photographer, I guess this is where it all started…

frequently asked questions

Email me contact@joanjellett.com and I will reply with my availability within 24hrs.

I am with you from Bridal prep 10.am to first dance 9pm, so you have me for a total of 10 hours.

For a full day coverage, my clients get an average of 500 edited digital images in an online gallery.

I photographed my very first wedding back in 2010, 11 years!

My style is very documentary, fly on the wall and unobtrusive but I understand the need for formal portraits. I allow about 30 minutes for my couples’ portraits, always photographed in the most natural and relaxed way.

I would do my best to help find a replacement photographer with a similar style, although I am not legally held to do so. If we can’t make it to your wedding your money will be refunded.

I bring a second camera set-up with us as well as multiple lenses, OCF  lights, many memory cards as well as accessories so that I don’t miss a thing on your day.
